What you need to fight against Malware, Ransomware and Other Dangers

When we say that technology is developing at a faster rate than it has ever before, we really mean it. And not only developing but it is making more and more space in our households, budgets and our personal lives, so much that the presence is undeniable. We share, upload and save a lot of personal information up there, so much that we even fear any kinds of leaks or thefts. What you need to fight against Malware attacks.

Though the governing bodies are working hard to make the rules stringent on people and organizations with malicious intent, there is still a strong need of responsibility and a sense of caution to be developed amongst ourselves. The users themselves will have to take some steps if they don’t want any such thing to happen, sure you can install security apps and locks but there is still a lot that you can do and enhance your data’s security. In this article I am going to talk to you about what all you can do to protect your data from outside threats. Have a look:

Say NO! To pirated software

Yes, we do understand that technology and its components can be costly at times, especially when you are looking for luxury items such as high end games, graphics cards, etc. And who doesn’t like freebies. Anyone would go for it but here are two points as to why you should not go for pirated software.

Probably Malicious

The pirated content is usually malicious and can install other programs on your system. Programs like malware, viruses, adware, spyware, worms, and whatnot. All of them have the potential to either steal your data, destroy it or both.

Original Creators

The pirated app or software that one downloads is just a copy of the original one that has been cracked to provide all the premium features. This abstains the original creators from receiving any benefit, monetary or non monetary. It is similar to someone stealing your work, on which you worked for days and nights and selling it on his name or giving it out for free.

Use VPN

Use VPN

VPN of Virtual Private Network is a way through which you can go anonymous even over the public network. VPN services can be availed via any VPN provider. You can surf your internet privately and even sites that are blocked in your countries or area. It comes in quite handy when you want to watch Netflix but the content is banned by the state. The main purpose of VPN is to get rid of spying and snooping eyes. Hackers and organizations cannot trace your steps or even the signal’s origins as it is routed through different servers around the world. So no one can install any spyware or any other application without your permission.

Get a Good Antivirus

Get a Good Antivirus

Antivirus software have been in the digital security scene for quite some time and are considered as one of the most reliable options when it comes to fending against malware. There are hundreds of antivirus programs available in the market that you can purchase. You will then need to install the application, download the updates, register yourself, etc. Many of these apps are quite heavy in nature and can slow down a computer. We would recommend you to go for cloud antivirus subscriptions. They will be easy on consuming resources and you can even cover multiple devices on a single license.

Get Updates

If you are using Windows or Mac, it doesn’t matter. Installing updates is something which should not be overlooked in any instance. Updates not only bring new features with them but they are also responsible for fixing bugs, patches and security issues. If you are not updating your operating system then you are leaving potential loopholes open that can be used against you. It is always advisable to get the latest updates.

Create Backup

One of the most important parts of securing your data is to create backups. A new virus can hit your computer and any antivirus maybe not able to handle it. It can potentially harm your computer but if you have a backup ready then you don’t have to worry about anything. Even if your system crashes, then too you would just need to restore your backup and you would be ready to start working again.

So these were some of the ways in which you can fight against malware, ransomware and other potential threats, that I wanted to share with you. Creating backups is quite normal, especially for people who are working with sensitive data. You just need to keep the backup in a safe place, apart from the main drive so that the virus doesn’t affect it.
