What does the word Static mean? The simple answer is unchangeable or fixed. What is the meaning of IP Address? The full form of IP is Internet Protocol.   • It will be easier for you to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) which is needed to do voice and video communications

How will you set up a Static IP Address?

These are the steps that will help you to set up a Static IP:

  1. Click the Start Menu
  2. Type cmd by using your keyboard and after that press Enter
  1. A window will appear on your screen, and in that window, you’ll have to type ipconfig /all and then press Enter.
  2. You will then see IPv4 address, Subnet Mask, and DNS Servers, remember it or note it down somewhere because you will need it afterwards.
  1. Type Exit and press Enter to close the command prompt.
  2. Open the Start Menu again and type Control Panel and press Enter.
  1. Click the link View network status and tasks which you will find under the Network and Internet heading.
  2. Click the Change adapter settings.
  1. Find your Internet Connection, and after that right-click on your network adapter and choose properties, it will open the properties window of your Internet Connection.
  2. Click the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then choose the option that’ll be under the title Properties.
  1. Then something will appear on your screen, and you should write all the settings you saw in this window.
  2. Then, you’ll see a dot in the circle next to Obtain an IP address automatically. If you can’t see it, then you already have a Static IP Address, then merely close windows.
  1. And if you can see the dot in the circle next to Obtain an IP address automatically, then you need to choose a Static IP Address. Click the circle next to Use the following IP address after that enter a new IP address in the box IP address.

The router’s IP Address and this Address should be similar, but the last number should be different because it shouldn’t be the same.

  1. Now, Enter the Subnet Mask and Default Gateway numbers in the different boxes you’ll find with these names only.
  2. Enter the DNS Servers you found into the two DNS Server boxes.
  3. Click OK, and it’s DONE !!!
