Common Aptitude Test or CMAT is a national level B-school entrance exam for admission into all AICTE approved management institutes in India. CMAT registrations for the 2024 session were delayed due to Covid 19, but it will start soon. The exam is likely to be conducted sometime in March 2024.
The exam will be conducted in a computer-based online testing mode in 153 centers across the country. National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the exam and all the details about the exam can be found on the official website of CMAT- NTA.

CMAT registration details
Delay due to pandemic
Like many other competitive exams conducted by the NTA, the CMAT exam was also affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. Usually, the CMAT registrations start in the third week of December. But this time, it is slated to be postponed by a few weeks.
It is important that candidates keep their cool and continue with their preparations as the dates will come in a few weeks. You need to regularly visit the website of CMAT-NTA and check the notice board to keep yourself updated on the dates.
Since the pandemic is under control now, there is no chance of any more delays in the CMAT registration process. Once the information bulletin is out and the registration begins, it’s only a matter of time before the exam is conducted.
CMAT eligibility
The CMAT authorities are very particular about the eligibility conditions for the CMAT exam. If candidates try to mislead by filling in the wrong details, they will fail the verification during final admission. As a result, read the conditions carefully and stick to them.
For successful CMAT registration, you need to be a citizen of India, first and foremost. The next condition is having a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. If you’re in the final year of your Bachelor’s, you can still apply for the exam. However, your results should be out before the commencement of admissions.
Lastly, there are no age restrictions for appearing in the CMAT exam. As long as you fulfill the other requirements, you can appear for the exam irrespective of your age. This is a unique opportunity as it allows both freshers and mid-career professionals to do MBA or PGDM.
Important dates for CMAT registration
Even though NTA is yet to declare the CMAT exam dates, it is possible to make a guess about the tentative dates based on past years’ trends. For the 2021 session, registrations started on 23 December 2020. The exam was conducted in the last week of February.
